Pharmacy Team From Bedford Step Up To Support Dementia Charity

Written by Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce | 06 Jun 2024

Bedford’s Smarta Healthcare Pharmacy team has launched a 20,000,000-step challenge to raise funds for Tibbs Dementia Foundation.
As part of the pharmacy and health clinic’s 10th anniversary celebrations, the team of 24 pharmacy and healthcare professionals decided to clock up a colossal 20 million steps between them.

As well as increasing their daily step count, they’ll be taking part in monthly team hiking and running events in Bedfordshire, Cambridge, Sussex, and as far afield as Portugal and Canada.

The step challenge events kicked off on Monday 13th May, when team members completed a 13km hike of the Seven Hanging Valleys, in South Portugal. Smarta Healthcare co-founders Harjinder Singh and Baljit Kaur were joined by Head of Marketing Laura Morland and other hikers to scale the coastal hiking route, adding almost 100,000 steps to the overall team target.

Smarta Healthcare CEO Harjinder Singh is confident the team will make it to
their 20 million step target:

“The 20 million step challenge is ambitious, but I know the team is motivated to keep moving and raise money for Tibbs Dementia Foundation. We’ve been tracking our team leaderboard and cheering each other on, and it’s a nice way to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We’re always amazed by the positive impact Tibbs has on the Bedford community, it's a privilege to represent them and show our support for what they do.”

CEO of Tibbs Dementia Foundation, Sarah Russell wishes the team well:
“We’re thrilled that Smarta Healthcare has chosen to support Tibbs Dementia Foundation for their 20 million step challenge – good luck to everyone! Tibbs provides practical and emotional advice to help people with all stages of dementia live an active and meaningful life. The money the Smarta Healthcare team raise will be used to further our outreach and support people living with dementia and their families.”

A webpage has been set up to track the team’s progress to the 20 million step mark, and document the monthly events: Donations can be made through JustGiving:
