SEMLEP appoints Hilary Chipping as Chief Executive

Hilary Chipping has been appointed as Chief Executive, having held the position as acting Chief Executive since January 2018.

Hilary has been on the senior leadership team at SEMLEP since its inception in 2011. Her recent achievements include leading the development of the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan launched in November 2017, which sets to double the size of the South East Midland’s economy by 2050 and, leading SEMLEP through its annual conversation and deep-dive audit with government which has recognised SEMLEP as one of the best performing LEPs in the country.

Dr Ann Limb CBE DL, Chair of SEMLEP said, “Hilary’s appointment to the role of Chief Executive is acknowledgement of her contribution over the last seven years to the creation and successful operation of SEMLEP. Hilary has been central to supporting SEMLEP achieve an impressive track record of delivering economic development and investment across the South East Midlands.

“SEMLEP is now focussed on some big challenges and major growth opportunities over the next few years. This includes delivering a strong vision for the Oxford-Milton Keynes- Cambridge Growth Corridor and developing a robust Local Industrial Strategy that will concentrate on future-proofing the success of key industries and sectors in the area. Hilary will work with the SEMLEP Board and partners to deliver this.”

Hilary Chipping said, "I am delighted to be appointed as the Chief Executive of SEMLEP. I am looking forward to working with the Board and all stakeholders to enable this area to deliver its full potential as a hub of knowledge intensive industry at the heart of the Cambridge - Milton Keynes - Oxford Growth Corridor competing on the world stage."
