New high profile shops are coming to Bedford town!

Written by Paula Devine | 04 Oct 2012

Robinson & Hall’s Building Surveying Department are pleased to have been involved in the redevelopment of 20-22 Silver Street which has completely transformed the original shop by separating the unit into two and extending 22 Silver Street to double the retail floor space.

The project itself has taken nearly 12 months from drawing up plans to creating the finished building ready for the new tenants fit out. The scheme, which is due to complete soon, will ensure that high profile retailers, including Costa Coffee can occupy this prime site in Bedford.

Stuart Brown, Senior Building Surveyor at Robinson & Hall says: “We love a challenge and a project like this isn’t easy to get right but we are all very pleased to promote success in the town centre. This development took place in a historic part of Bedford and interestingly during the works a clay pipe making pit was found dating back to 1850’s. The pipes are now being displayed in Bedford Museum”.

This project drew on our expertise in a wide range of services within the Building Surveying Department. As well as responsibility for the overall design and project management of the scheme, we were involved in a dilapidations liability assessment of the original tenant, planning advice and party wall negotiations with the neighbouring tenant. Robinson and Hall were also appointed by our clients under the CDM regulations to advise on Health and Safety matters.
