Businesses and organisations across Bedfordshire took part in Luton’s Enterprise Day on Monday 10 November 2014.
Over 500 people attended the event hosted by Marsh Farm Futures (MFF) at Futures House, Luton in partnership with Job Centre Plus and Luton Borough Council. A host of local companies, businesses and organisations took part including Arriva buses, SEMLEP, Avon, MIND, Central Bedfordshire College, A Plan Insurance, Bedfordshire Police and HomeInstead to name a few.During the event, businesses showcased their products and services and met potential customers. Training providers gave information to job seekers on free courses, training opportunities, apprenticeships, and job opportunities available to them.
In addition to this a number of free workshops with representatives from the Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce, NatWest Bank and WENTA, Luton Borough Council aimed at small businesses and new business start ups were also held giving people information on apprenticeships, funding, help available and checklists on writing up a business plan.
Sarah, a local resident who attended the event said” I found it very interesting and there were so many different companies to speak to and get information. I signed up for the Business Start up workshop and really learnt a lot.”
The event opened by Richard Cooper, Chair of Futures Business Voice said “this is an excellent day for businesses to demonstrate their contribution to Luton’s economy. We are grateful to Luton Borough Council, Job Centre Plus and SEMLEP for providing financial and material support to this event”.
Luton Enterprise Day organiser and Programme Manager for MFF, Ishaq Kazi said: “Luton’s Enterprise Day was by all accounts a resounding success. The event was an excellent opportunity to show Luton’s flamboyant entrepreneurial culture.
