Funding Alert

Written by Paula Devine | 05 Dec 2013

Bedfordshire businesses are urged to act quickly this month as SEMLEP unveils a £10,000 pot of funding designed to help companies reduce their energy costs and leverage additional funding in 2014.

The Rev Active fund, exclusively for companies in Bedfordshire, is being promoted by South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP), and will entitle 10 successful companies to two days of independent consultancy in 2014 worth £1000.

Rev Active, open for registrations until December 18th, will show companies how they can reduce their energy costs and significantly increase efficiency. SEMLEP is then encouraging companies to use this Rev Active evidence to support a Grants4Growth application.

Daniel Mouawad, Chief Executive of SEMLEP, explained: “We would urge Bedfordshire companies with an aspiration for growth to act quickly, make the most of this Rev Active offer and to then use recommendations made by the Rev Active consultants as an evidence base for your Grants4Growth application.

“Grants4Growth is for Bedfordshire based businesses seeking to create or safeguard jobs by investing in capital equipment and new facilities and for companies seeking to invest in technology and processes to improve their carbon footprint. Rev Active is a perfect prelude to your Grants4Growth application form and will provide valuable evidence to support your request for significant funding.”

Grants4Growth is a £2.5million grants programme for small and medium sized businesses which need practical help and financial assistance to help reduce costs, as well as increase competitiveness and resilience. It includes both capital and revenue grants and is managed locally by SEMLEP Business Broker James Stancombe.

James said: “In the last few months we have awarded seven Grants4Growth to businesses of all sizes across Bedfordshire – helping companies invest in new equipment, grow, recruit and reduce their carbon footprint. Rev Active is an exciting addition to SEMLEP’s funding portfolio, but you will need to act quickly.”

The most recent Grants4Growth funding was award to Kempston-based JTalk, which used its £15,000 grant to fund low wattage lighting, a more efficient heating system and improved insulation.

The deadline for registering for Rev Active support is December 17th, so get in touch with James at SEMLEP today or go online and find out more at
The first 10 Bedfordshire companies to register will be awarded two days of consultancy in the New Year and will then be encouraged by SEMLEP to apply for a Grants4Growth.

Rev Active is managed by Breckland Council and supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
