The University of Bedfordshire, Careers & Employability Service now have a dedicated placements team in recognition of the fact that work placements offer an unrivalled learning experience for students and an opportunity for employers to establish a tried and tested talent pipeline of the most ambitious undergraduates.
In order to support students into the engineering and manufacturing industries in the local area, they have launched an 'Engineering Insights Programme'.
The Programme
Students from a range of courses go on placements or shorter 'insights' with companies operating in the engineering and manufacturing sectors in the local area.
The university will fund the programme paying students for the time spent during the placement or 'insight' weeks with industrial partners.
The role the student undertakes does not need to be engineering specific.
The Aim
Encourage new talent into the engineering & manufacturing industries within Luton (LU postcode).
Showcase the breadth and depth of opportunities available within these skills shortage areas.
Remove financial barriers students face when undertaking these programmes.
Your Commitment
To agree to a number of 'insights' or placements for students
To ensure a mentor is available during the placement/insight that is a direct point of contact for the university and the student.
To give feedback on the experience
