Zest provide another reason to be social

Written by Paula Devine | 01 Oct 2012

Zest Solutions has secured contracts to bring the digital age to the elderly within Avery, Orchard and Twin Globe care homes throughout the UK.

Proving age is no barrier when it comes to technology Zest have installed Wi-Fi services in 50 care homes as part of an overall strategy to ensure residents experience a home from home service and increased social support.

The Wi-Fi service enables residents’ unlimited access to the internet and its associated services. Whether it is speaking to a relative on SKYPE, researching a hobby or emailing friends, Zest’s service is ensuring social isolation doesn’t exist within the care environment.

Michael Sheehan, managing director of Zest Solutions says: “The future of technology within a care home environmen

t is unlimited, but one thing is for sure. There is an increasingly web-savvy ageing population. There is statistic out there that quotes 20% of our elderly population use social media. Without doubt this percentage will grow as the need for information and social inclusion increases.

“The Internet can be a simple solution to prevent an individual feeling lonely or not. And given how cost effective it is to engage with that technology it’s no wonder care home providers are realising technology really is the future.”

Zest Solutions Group is a national business solutions company who provides IT and communications services from its extensive business support services. Their aim is to enhance and assist businesses with their day to day offering and business development.
