Stagecoach East has been announced as a winner at the highly prestigious National Transport Awards 2023.
The region’s bus operator won the trophy for Excellence in Road Safety, Traffic Management and Enforcement; they were also finalists in the categories for the Best Alliance/ Collaboration of the Year and Exemplary Contribution to Net Zero.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the UK National Transport Awards, which recognises outstanding dedication, expertise, success, and innovation in enhancing transport networks across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The awards were hosted by renowned TV personality Jeremy Vine, and heard a keynote address by Mark Harper, Secretary of State for Transport.
Stagecoach East’s victory was secured by its Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) project, developed in partnership with Volvo, which helps to limit vehicle speeds on the Cambridge Guided Busway by the use of cutting-edge technology. As a result, the ISA improves safety for passengers and pedestrians, and also provides an even smoother ride.
