Poynters Road

Written by Paula Devine | 07 Jun 2013

As part of the on-going regeneration of the area and improvement to the road network in Dunstable, Bedfordshire Highways will be carrying out essential road works on Poynters Road.

Poynters Road has a serious carriageway failure requiring major maintenance. Whilst it is difficult to see the problem, the lower layers of the road surface are weak, so the road needs to be reconstructed from the ‘bottom up’ to ensure longevity of the repair. The weakness will only get worse the longer it’s left, so they are fixing the problem now to stop the road failing completely.

The works are due to start week commencing 8th July for duration of 11 weeks.

  • 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • 8 am to 6 pm, Saturday.
  • No working on Sundays or Bank Holidays.

Contractors may have to undertake ‘special works’ outside of these times.

Poynters Road will be closed for the entire 11 weeks, as it is a major route this is likely to cause considerable congestion diversions have to be put in place.  In recognition of the disruption Dunstable has faced with road works recently,  the works have bee planned along with the contractor Eurovia, to try and minimise the level of disruption caused, in and around the area.

Diversions will run along the A505 Luton Road, Boscombe Road, and Porz Avenue.
