CXD dons Armour

Written by Paula Devine | 16 Jul 2013

Bedford-based Conservation By Design (CXD), has strengthened its portfolio of conservation storage, equipment and display equipment with the acquisition of Armour Systems, a specialist manufacturer of museum display cases and cabinets.

Combining the strengths of both companies, the partnership marks an important strategic step in CXD’s development plans. It enables the business to offer a market leading range of high quality showcases manufactured in the UK to the museum sector.

The Armour Systems range will be complemented by the existing CXD product line-up, providing customers with a vast selection of high quality conservation equipment, backed up by the service excellence for which both businesses are renowned.

Conservation By Design’s managing director, Mike Brown, said: “Armour Systems’ strong reputation for high quality design and their Milton Keynes based engineering facility make them a natural partner for CXD. Our intention is to work together to maximise the synergies between our brands. They are a well-respected company in the UK and this growing reputation has opened up some great opportunities in the USA. Our collaboration puts all our combined conservation resources under one roof to help museums and designers bring their exhibition visions to life. We are very excited about the future.”

Andy Gascoigne, managing director of Armour Systems, added: “This move marks the start of a momentous new chapter in the successful history of Armour Systems. We’re looking forward to continued development as part of a global company with an outstanding conservation pedigree and to maximising the growth opportunities that this offers.”
