Policy

If you pay business rates and taxes, if you use roads and employ people, if you are overwhelmed by red-tape then policy is your business.

A voice for business

The Chamber's Policy Team aims to be the voice for business in Bedfordshire and Luton using its influence, experience and contacts to represent you and lobby on behalf of the business community at all levels - from local government to ministerial level.

Strength in numbers

It's difficult for an individual business to influence policy alone.  However as part of a group of businesses led by the Chamber you can have a much stronger voice exerting greater influence on policies affecting business.  In addition, the Chamber is a member of the British Chambers of Commerce joining with businesses across the whole of the UK in calling for policy decisions that are good for business.

Share your concerns with us

We can't represent you and lobby on your behalf unless we understand your concerns.  To see the bigger picture it's essential we have your input.  Don't stand on the sidelines, contribute to the decisions that count by taking part in consultations or commenting on the hot issues; step up on the virtual soapbox and have your say ; tell us online what you think on any issue from road congestion and business crime to the skills gap and age discrimination legislation; share your expertise, experience and opinions with us by becoming a member of the Chamber's Virtual Panels.   Your views are key to our activities with The British Chambers of Commerce. We can use your views to inform their influential research reports.

Lobbying on your behalf

The Chamber's Policy Team have a presence on a range of committees and groups that influence policy making decisions in Bedfordshire and Luton, on issues such as airport expansion, the growth strategy and local infrastructure. We are also represented on a number of panels and committees across the Eastern Region enabling us to represent you regionally as well as locally.  The Policy Council meets on an ad hoc basis as issues arise and feeds into the British Chambers of Commerce National Policy Council, which in turn reports the concerns of business at ministerial level.
