Chamber offering free consultancy worth £5000 to one lucky company

01/09/2007
There’s no such things a free lunch? Well sometimes there is. The Chamber is offering 10 days free consultancy to a member company as part of a pilot project funded by the Chamber’s umbrella body The British Chambers of Commerce. The Chamber’s Paul St John Bennett wants to help a company that has been taken over in the last 12 months and would welcome consultancy support from a range of experienced and qualified managers, as well as specialists from the Chamber.

The pilot project aims to investigate the type of support needed by companies after a take over, either within a family or though management buyout.  Paul has already been working with a small local company employing fewer than thirty people.  Said Paul:

'The company had two main problems.  The Managing Director needed to free some of his time to develop sales with major trade customers and look for further acquisitions.    This meant giving greater responsibility to key members of staff throughout the business.  In addition, the company lacked a managed quality system and needed to identify where this was incurring unnecessary cost.  Two months on, the Managing Director is spending approximately half of his time away from the day to day running of the business while the company is saving up to £2, 000 per month by eliminating errors in order-taking and production.  As an added bonus morale is noticeably higher.'

Now Paul is looking for another company to work with, starting in October 2007.   The consultancy, valued at around £5000, is free of charge.  The only requirement is that your company is a member of the Chamber.  Not a member of the Chamber?  That's not a problem says Paul St John Bennett:

'I'm just as willing to consider businesses who aren't currently members but would be willing to join.    The membership fee is just a fraction of the value of the consultancy so it really is an investment worth making.'
